Tetons & camping in june
We have 2 families in Rv's arriving June 12 at Grand Tetons Park. Does the natl. park campgrounds fill up early in the day? We are not sure whether to make advance resv. at a campground outside the park,or hope to get in the National park. Has anyone stayed in the "outside the Tetons" campgrounds. If so is there a scenic one? Thanks

Malibu,
the campgrounds in Teton Natl Park do take a certain number of advance reservations. Try for that. If for some reason you can't reserve, just get there by 9 am and you'll get a spot.
The largest campground is Coulter Bay. It's very nice and has a huge area with hook ups for RV's if you are into that type of camping.
Early June isn't as crowded as the rest of the summer, but crowds will be starting. Wildflowers should be fantastic, nights could still be cold. Go prepared and have fun!

If for some reason they are all full and you don't have reservations, Gros Ventre is never full.
It has two pluses to us--you don't have to pay the national park entry fee and it's MUCH closer to run into Jackson.
If you're just travelling through on your way to Yellowstone, there is no need to go inside the park. Actually, the view of the mountains is much better out on the highway. Except for a couple of pretty lakes, there isn't much else to see. Of course, it's different if you are planning activities in the park.

Thanks for the info. We are normally tent campers. Since we have a long way to go from Michigan we opted to rent RV's. I have read about Flagg ranch,if anyone has stayed there. We do like to hike. Sandy
