Temperatures in Anna Maria island

I am trying to decide between Anna Maria Island and Fort Myers Beach; vacation dates 11/5 - 11/9. Want to spend a lot of time on the beach . . . not necessarily swimming. Thanks for your help

Hi Bhelpful,
I live basically between those two locations (Manasota Key area) and I really don't think that the temps will vary that greatly between the two. Ft. Myers is further south, so if there is an odd little cool front that only makes it partway through the state, you might be better off at Ft. Myers, but really they should be about the same.

Have fun.

Jaye

We are visiting Manasota Key over Christmas. Any special things to visit or see, or restaurant recommendations for Christmas dinner (or other meals as well)? Thanks!

I'd disagree with jaye above. The average temperatures between Ft. Myers Beach and Anna Maria are likely to be at least 5 degrees, more likely to be 10 degrees warmer in Ft. Myers Beach during November.

Both areas are enjoyable with long stretches of beachfront. Fort Myers Beach is more developed with condos and motels on both sides of the main road. It is accessible to many places, including Sanibel and Captiva Islands, which are fantastic. Anna Maria Island is more secluded, but it is near Longboat Key, Siesta Key etc. and within an easy drive of Sarasota, which is a beautiful city with lots of cultural attractions. We especially liked the harbor area. As I am sure you noticed from the map, Fort Myers is about one and one-half hours south of the Sarasota area and, thus, likely to be a bit warmer. Either is a good choice. Since it is before the high tourist season, you are likely to encounter fewer crowds either place.

www.weatherunderground.com can give you all these answers. I think I must be a frustrated statistician, 'cause I love these questions. We could find mean, mode and median temps and standard deviations...if it only weren't so long since we took that stat course!! LOL

Anyway for your dates here are the average high and low temps:

Anna Maria Island

11-5 79/56
11-6 80/56
11-7 80/58
11-8 80/57
11-9 80/57

Ft Myers Beach

11-5 80/62
11-6 81/61
11-7 80/61
11-8 82/61
11-9 82/62
