Tell me more about Zabar's

I am working on the itinerary for four women heading to nyc for 5 days in November and Zabar's keeps popping up. Can someone tell me a bit about this place? I understand it's a market...how late is it open on Friday's? Anything you tell me is helpful. Also, can anyone tell me about Hell's Kitchen flea market? When is it open? Is it worth a look? Thanks to all of the posters on this site. Your insight has been so helpful in planning our trip!

Ahhh, Zabars.
It is a store , 2 floors or maybe 3 full of food and kitchen wares.
Bakery, deli, canned goods, coffees, you can spend a day there. It is as much fun shopping and getting food as it is people watching. Especially watching and listening to the guys behind the counter cutting the nova and the customers.
Get the orange cake and croissants and bagels and nova and a roast chicken. And in November, have some of their soup!
You will also probably enjoy upstairs where the dishes and glasses and gadgets are..I always go hog wild in there and have to buy gadgets that never get used but that I had to have
Enjoy~

Thanks, that helps. When do they open on Sun? I would like to stop on the way to the airport and get goodies to go. Also, how late are they open on Fri night- we plan to be at the Met til 9...will Zabar's still be open? This sounds like my kinda place!
