Technical question about posting

Actually, your entire response sounds like a typical tech support answer (which means that the tech support technician, who himself has no idea what to do, assumes the same level of incompetence from the caller, and resorts to the "replace and reload" mentality).
In fact, I'm quite well versed in both the hardware and software aspects of computers, and I can assure you that your suggestions won't solve what you perceive as a problem, but what I perceive as a normal Windows keystroke combination for getting to the end of a document (or, in this case, a thread).

Well Les, if you'll read back in these responses, you will see that my method works for J Correa and Frank, both of whom use Windows NT. Now why would it NOT work on your computer when it works on theirs, with the same OS? And when you responded to "non", you confessed that you "weren't trying his method on a message that took up more than one screen". That's kind of a "duh", isn't it? Thanks for your kind words, by the way, but you see, I did have some idea what to do and was trying to impart that. smooch Frankly, I don't care how you get there. I was trying to help and glad the tip did help some. ta ta Let's travel.

You've got it, x, I was wondering when someone would realize that the behavior might be application dependent rather then OS dependent. Anyway, I found that END works on Netscape 6.2 but not on 4.08, which requires a CTRL-END. Would have tested it earlier but frankly, I found this topic to be rather boring.

"Throw out your keyboard, get a new one, defrag then re-format--oh, and get a new video card while you're at it."
Does that sound like a sensible reply to you? Indicative of someone who's not really interested in answers.
By the way, the application WAS the source of the discrepancy. I generally use Netscape, and "Ctrl-End" is the key sequence required. but in IE, "End" does the trick.

Les, I was JOKING when I said that for crying out loud!!! Everyone of us has jumped through dumb hoops for someone's Tech Support people. I did just last week with ViewSonic. One of the 3 I talked with swore the problem was my video card, the next swore it was refresh rate, the next swore it was auto sync. This is fresh in my mind you see, and it was an attempt at humor (as my 6 month old, $700 monitor makes its way back to CA). Their replies are, more often than not, nonsensical, as that one was intended to be. Anyway, Frank and Les, glad to know we hit on the solution. All you need now to be au current, is the newer version of Netscape.

OK, peace. I guess I didn't recognize a joke when I saw it.
I would certainly never upgrade my Netscape (and never ever change to IE) simply to be able to press "End" instead of "Ctrl-End".
By the way, Microsoft is inconsistent on this, even among their own applications.
For word and Excel, it's "Ctrl-End"; for IE, it's "End" OR "Ctrl-End", and for PowerPoint, it's "End". So much for MS's intention of providing a consistent user interface for all Windows programs.
