tea in NYC with 14 year old

Is Landy Mendls still around? What about Bendels? Bergdorfs? Any suggestions? Thanks!

I believe Lady Mendls is still there. Can't comment on whether a 14 yr old would enjoy it or not.

I don't know if Bendels or Bergdorf's have tea, but my favorite is the Pierre.

They're serving tea at the Essex House on Central Park now, in the newly-renovated lobby. It's quite lovely.

As far as I know, Lady Mendl's is still around. The St. Regis is really nice as is the Pierre hotel.

We really enjoyed the St. Regis - they do a lovely tea, amazing service, and excellent food. Not knowing the teen I would consider how long she is willing to sit and enjoy the experience, if she likes to try different things, if she enjoys elegant or casual places, etc. I honestly don’t remember exactly what we paid the last time we were there, for reason I’m thinking it was in the $45-$50 per person range including tip. Reservations are strongly suggested.

The Pierre is outstanding and tea in the Rotunda is breathtaking.

GoTravel, not to hijack, but can you tell me a little about the tea at the Pierre? We'll be back in June and as much as we loved the St. Regis we all feel we should try a different place (I'd hate to be stuck in a rut!!)

This was recommened to me, I thought I'd pass it on. The Tea Box at Takashimaya, which is on Fifth Avenue(693 Fifth near 54th.).It's in the basement of a very, very expensive Japanese department store. The decor is supposed to be beatiful. Meals(light) are inexpensive.Small pot of tea w/cookies is $6.50.
