Taxi vs Town Car/Limo

I posted a message a few days ago regarding Taxis/Luggage and received some helpful replies. One poster suggested hiring a Town Car. Is there a noticeable difference in size between a Taxi and a Towncar?

I was considering hiring a Limo (stretch) as a suprise for the other 3 people travelling with me, is it worth it? We will be travelling from JFK to Lexington Ave.

If in your opinion it is worth it, would you recommend any particular Town Car/Limo service? I would be grateful for any links to companies with websites.

Thank you for your help.

A Town car is actually a large vehicle--longer than an average car, shorter than a limo. I Think people here might be referring more generally to a car service/ "limo" company that you can call in advance rather than just picking up a cab. Most car service comapnies have vehicles ranging from large sedans and station wagons to minivans as well as town cars and limos. The regular car prices are comparable to cab fare, station wagons and minvans a few dollars higher. A limo is much more. You decide if the splurge is worth it. Just guessing, but figure on about $100+ for a limo, but then again cab fare/car service fare costs about $50 with fare/toll/tip included

I'd go for the Town Car instead of the limo. The limos always look like they are struggling in traffic because of the size. They don't whip in and out of traffic like the Town Car can.

ALice won't be DRIVING the limo - why would she care if it could "whip in and out of trafic"?

ABC, methinks xxx was talking about the traffic problem. From reading, I didn't get that xxx thought she'd be driving.

The four of us traveling together were so much more comfortable in the Towncar. It was also nice not having to hail a cab. We only used it to & from the airport (newark)-it was the same price as a cab, but so much nicer.

A Towncar is a large Lincoln, seats 4-5. Limos usually are stretch and way too long, seating about 6-8. Taxis are sedans with a back seat, usually seat 4 total.
