Taxi from Honolulu Airport to Waikiki Hotel
I heard that taxis can only take up to 3 passengers in Honolulu - is this correct? If so, what's a good way to get from airport to Waikiki area hotel for a family of 4? (I understand there are shuttles, but don't they stop a lot, plus the fare would be per person).
Thanks for any information.

There are taxis of various sizes right at the transportation island outside baggage claim. You don't need to prearrange. One trip my friend and I ended up with a wonderful (old) limo as our taxi.

Almost every taxi will work four four people. Three in the back seat and one up front.
As Suze said, there are all kinds of taxis - minivans, station wagons, even stretch limos- at the airport taxi stand. Go out to the median outside the baggage claim and the dispatcher will put you in the first one that fits your group. PS, they all charge exactly the same fee.
