Tail of the Dragon

One of the cabins for rent in the Deal's Gap area is promoted as being near "America’s number one motorcycle and sports car road." Should I then expect to hear a lot of motorcycle noise or might it still be a quiet and relaxing area?

I don't know the answer but I'll bump this up so someone else may see it who does. I do know that part of that road is closed now due to a rockslide.

I think you need to ask the owners/rental agency of the cabin is "How near is it to the road?" "How likely am I to hear traffic noise?"

I hear that the road reopened during May. I guess my question is more related to the fact that the location of the cabin (near the entrance/exit to Tail of the Dragon) is close to a very popular motorcycle touring location. I don't know if that means I will hear a lot of roaring motorcycles. I suppose that really is a question for the cabin rental company, though as you say.

I looked at the testimonials and they say the owner is very responsive and answered all their questions. Call/email the owner and ask. Only the owner knows where the cabin is located re the road. Based on the view, I doubt the cabin is close to the road. She's just marketing the cabin to folks who like to ride that stretch of the road.

Every weekend you'll find motorcyclists riding beautiful mountain roads in N GA, W'n TN and NC. It just is what it is. Heck, one of my favorite Fodorites is going to be a neighbor - on the other end of a curvy mountain road

I doubt very seriously you'll have any problem with noise. But, no one on Fodors is going to be able to give you an accurate answer. Only the owner would be able to do that.

Thanks. I suppose if the cabin isn't right on the main road (which I don't believe it is) the noise shouldn't be a problem. The view from the cabin looks awesome, which is why I like it!
