Tahoe in June-40th Birthday

Got a great house overlooking Lake up in Mountains in S. Lake Tahoe from June 6-10. I want to bring them to a great restaurant on night of my birthday..Rather have first-hand recommendations than trying to figure out the website info! Don't care on price...more interested in great food, great atmosphere. Please help!!!!

Great food Evans American Gourmet. South Lake Tahoe on your way to Camp Richardson from South Lake Tahoe on your left. Go there every year for anniversary since 1996. It's getting more crowded. Small cottage but can accomodate groups of 8 or so at round tables. The large groups always look like they are haveing fun!!!! Wine and beer only I think.

How big is the group? 7 tables in Cafe Fiore. Fabulous dinner.

Thanks for replying. Read about it on other messages. There will be 6 for dinner on a Friday night and 8 or 9 the next night. Any other suggestions? I heard that Llewelyn's is good, but is it stuffy?

We don't usually go to the casinos so I have not eaten at Llewelyns. A friend went to Caesars over the weekend and ate at Primavera Northern Italian. She raved about it. Said you'd never know you were in a casino. She also liked the food.

The Greenhouse came highly recommended but when we ate there I was not that happy with it. Not what I expected. It's part of the Tropicana Lodge which I didn't know until we got there. I should have cancelled.

Nepheles is good and it's a keyword so you can check out their website easily. Actually you can access all the web sites easily if you want to look at the menu.

Here are some things to do in and around Lake Tahoe:

Gondola at South Shore. Picnic at the stop near the top. Get back on and go to the top and hike around.

Raft down the Truckee river. It's slow and it's fun. Try to get into splash fights with other rafters. Stop along the sand bars to join in the fun.

Go to Squaw Valley High camp for the day. Buy the ticket that gets you into the pool and ice skating. There is grilled food and a bar at the top too.

Zypher cove has lots of water vehicles to rent as well as boat tours of all kinds, paddle wheel and sailing.

Sand Harbor and Incline have great beaches.

Historic stuff:

Tallac in Camp Richardson
Mansion and Tea House at Emerald Bay
Mansion at Sugar Pine Point

Second summer for the high speed ferry Meteor. Leaves from South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City.

The bar at the Embassy Suites, Turtles, was always hoppin' on the weekends when we've stayed there. Good music, DJ, I recall.
If you drive around and find yourself near Garwoods in Carnelian Bay (north shore) stop in for a Wet Woody (drink) during happy hour. Lots of fun there.

Fun Pier scene at Chambers Landing in Homewood. Can be very wild there during the season. You might be a little early for that but the Chambers punch are good and cheaper 4-6.

There's always stuff going on at the casinos.

Try this web site for other options:

BTW if you can't make it to Garwoods you can get a wet woody at their sister place the Riva Grill at the ski run marina. It's where some of the lake cruises take off like the Hornblower. Not to be confused with Zypher Cove in Nevada.

A great restaurant in Incline is Lone Eagle Lodge. The inside is beautiful. It has a great view and an outdoor firepit. The food is very good too. (Lots of red meat).
