swim at easter at bald head?

We're planning the week before easter at bald head. Comments here about bald head have changed over the years. VRBO provides one alternative to the BHI rental office. And maybe the place is not quite as quiet and isolated as it used to be. We were there about 8 years ago and liked it. Now our kids are teenagers. It's not Vegas, but kayaks and golfcarts should be fun. I think it will be a nice break. Here are my questions: Can we hope for nice beach days? Will the pool at BHI club be open? How many bald head foderites are there?

You may be able to swim in a pool at Bald Head the first week in April but not in the ocean without a full wet suit.

It will be too cold to sit on the beach unless the air temps are 85 degrees because the ocean water is still so cold.

Thanks. We'll prepare ourselves for cold and be pleasantly surprised if it turns out to be warm.

Not without a wet suit! Even Ernest Shackleton would have a hard time swimming at Bald Head on 8 April.

Well, we swam. The first part of the week was warm and one could jump in and out of the ocean and survive. The last part of the week, when it snowed at home in DC, it was pretty darn cold at BHI. But we had a nice rental house, through vrbo, and explored via bikes, kayaks, and golfcarts. Very pretty place. Big houses. Lots of money. No cars. Two clubs, only one of which (The Shoals Club) has a heated pool. We had access to the other club, where the pool looked colder than the ocean. Tennis courts. Golf course. Swanky. The kids were bored from time to time (we watched Groundhog Day twice) but it was a nice spring break!
