The Northeast does have a superiority complex, ncgirl. Not only for the South, but the whole country. Just look at our politicians. Talk about know-it-alls.

But,as football fans,we know our Patriots have sucked for all eternity up until a few years ago. So we will soak up all the success of out Pats have now cause it beats the old days.

Folks in NE apparently forget that two years ago they were 14 point dogs and won. The view from the top certainly changes perception. I'm certain St. Louis and Philadelphia had the feeling they'd win, also.

The Panthers have that same fire NE had in 2002. Prediction: Panthers 17-13.

citiboy,

As to your question about nearby fitness centers, there's a nice 24 Hr. Fitness Super Sports in the Galleria area (1550 Post Oak Blvd.(713) 840-1436). Also nearby, the Houstonian Hotel has an awesome fitness center and spa. I don't know whether either will allow access if you're not a member.

You should look into Mango's downtown on Travis Street for a Latin club. It has great reviews. http://houston.citysearch.com/profil...=cs_boc_ew_3_2

bmillersc - Its all about how you handle the pressure. Our Pats handled it then and they will handle it now. They have a great deal of respect for Carolina and do not underestimate what it will take to win. Unlike St. Louis who treated that Super Bowl like it was a coronation and not a competition. Judging from the interviews that I've heard Carolina has a bit of a "I'm just happy to be here" attitude.

Good luck. Its going to be a heck of a game.

To all who are lucky enough to attend - have a great time.

Bennnie,

I could get used to this. It's a far cry from the Super Bowl when the Bears killed the Pats! Now thw Pats are favorites. I love it;-)

bennie...yes, I'll be pulling for the Pats. Our trip is 95% business (for Tampa down the road), but I'd love to see the Pats pull it out.

How I would have loved to have gone last year, and the Bucs had a bit (no, a lot) of the "just happy to be here" about them too. I think we were as shocked as anyone to win the whole shooting match! We traditionally have a staff Super Bowl party at our house and we practically brought the house down last year! What a game...the team is still not quite over it, as our season this year showed!

I live in Miami, NY and Beech Mtn., NC. I have been following football for a long time. Carolina is the team of destiny. They have the whole package.New England has been lucky. The Dolphin game was given to them by the kicker. They were lucky to get 2 ft of snow in New England. Indy should have scored from the one with good play calling.Besides that, the most logical argument is that the Red Sox curse will take them down.I will check out Mangos-we have two great Mangos in Miami.I dont feel the Pats can stop the Panthers running game. Also, it wont be cold indoors.

citiboy50 - Now that you mention the RedSox, keep in mind that its Carolina that has a Buckner on its team. If that's not a bad sign I don't know what is.

And its takes a pretty good team to get that lucky. 3 interceptions against the best offense in the AFC is more than luck. And as far as the weather goes, it was the same snow and the same cold for both teams. Only 1 managed to make it a non-issue.

We wish you guys the best of luck. Carolina is a very good team and the Pats will have to play hard to win. But that's what they do best - play very hard!

Have a great time in Houston!

hey Doc - these Pats have been the only thing to take our minds of last October. its nice to be a favorite for a change. This must be how Yankee fans feel when they head for the World Series year after year.

We also are big Marlins Fans. We only hope that the Pats have the same result as the Yankees did last October.
Going to the Superbowl is a lifelong dream. From what I can tell, Houston will be a great place to party.

Not going to the game but I sure wish I was. Since I live in Charlotte I guess I got put my 2 cents in.

GO PANTHERS!!!

And yes, it does seem like to us that most media is quick to write us off and still are not giving us the credit due. When we win its all about what the other team did wrong rather then what we did right.

Thats ok - we'll take what we've got because its gotten us here - and we're gonna win.

The Pats problem is they wont be able to stop the Panthers running game-Davis and Foster are a load.

Cityboy,

The Pats have had one person rush for 100+ yards. And the reasons are,Ted Washington and Richard Seymour. At least one of those guys will be double teamed. So, Foster and Davis will be ineffective.

Carolinas wideouts will be beaten up at the line of scrimmage and disrupt the timing of Delhomme and he will have NO clue how to adjust to it.

Theres 2 reasons, and a third is 14 wins in a row, Which means nothing in this Super Bowl other than this is a great team that knows how to win. And they will.

Top Ten Reasons Why the Pats will Win..

10. Tom Brady is prettier than Jake Delhomme.
9. New England is prettier than Carolina.
8. Ted Bruschi has the best football name in the history of the NFL.
7. You can fight the LAW but you can't win.
6. Carolina has a guy named Buckner on the team. That always spells disaster.
5. Chowder tastes better than gumbo.
4. Our defense made the "smartest" quarterback in the NFL look like a jr. varisty player. What do you think they'll do to Carolina's jr. varsity quarterback?
3.Adam Vinateri is so clutch.
2.Grady Little isn't coaching the Pats.
1. The Patriots are a team. They think like a team, get introduced as a team and play like a team. They are not taking Carolina for granted and will be prepared for anything Carolina throws out there. Coach Belichik can name every guy on the Panthers, tell you what school they went to, what their strenghths and weaknesses are and what they had for lunch 3 weeks ago.

Have fun!

It's obvious Bennie has never been to North or South Carolina.

New England is NOT prettier than the Carolinas. Both offer beauty, just that the Carolinas offer more. Check a search here to find out how many more people ask about visiting the Carolinas vs. New England.

Brentson Buckner gives better tv sound bites than anyone on the other team.

Gumbo? in the Carolinas? We fight over barbecue (North Carolina eastern, NC western and SC styles). If we ever decided to cook chowder I'm sure we'd win that battle too.

When I had lunch at the NE Culinary Institute a few years back, they were featuring NC BBQ on the menu. Even the chefs-in training knew the difference between eastern (vinegar based sauce) and western (tomato based sauce).

Though I don't know as much about football as barbeque, they did a pretty good sandwich, a little too fancy because it was a chef-in training place. No hushpuppies though.

Go Panthers!

The number one reason why the Patriots will win: Bill Belichick. End of discussion.

I can see Pete Carroll doing that, but noe Belichick. I knew we would see the bi-polar side of Howard Dean.
