Where is the best part of town to party? Any special restaurants for steak, seafood, and barbecue?Any special clubs.

My vote for great barbeque is Goode Company on Kirby Drive (just south of U.S. 59). If you go there, make sure you get a slice of their pecan pie too.

There's a ton of steak restaurants, but most of them are expense account expensive (Pappa's, Fleming's, Vic & Anthony's, Ruth's Chris).

Have a great time! The weather's expected to be mild next week - in the 60's!

Dear Susan-sounds great.We like the pricey.I am going alone with my best male buddy(straight).Any clubs that recommend for 40ish guys.Dancing etc.

I was having a procedure done last week and the dr was from Houston so to avoid thinking about what was going on, I was asking restaurant questions. She gave me the following list..what do you think?

BBQ--Goode Co (I see you've got that too)

Thai--Nit Noi

Tex Mex--Pappasito's, Cafe Adobe

Others--Brennans, Cafe Annie, Churassco and America's (last two Latin American)

Olive, the places on your "prescribed" list are reliable standards, likely to be crowded so plan accordingly. Others: For good Vietnamese try Mai's on Milam. For the ultimate carnivore experience it's Fogo da Chao on Westheimer (west of Galleria.) For excellent moules frite go to the unassuming Cafe Montrose on Westheimer in the Montrose neighbrhood. Any of the Pappas family places (Pappasito tex mex, Pappamia italian, Pappadeaux cajun/seafood) are dependable for good food, generous portions and long lines. For casual middle eastern food try DiMassi's in Rice Village. Also in Rice Village is Mi Luna for great Spanish food, with a wonderful Sunday brunch. Sierra Grill on Montrose near the museum distict serves terrific and inventive upscale bistro food. The Daily review on West Lamar is excellent (you will never think of chicken pot pie the same way again.) If you want to listen to the sounds of lips smacking and arteries slamming shut head to This Is It soul food on West Gray.

Can you recommend any good latin clubs? I am a gringo and my buddy is latino.

Thanks Seamus! The more choices the better. I'm familiar with the Pappas chains from when we lived in Dallas. Good food--not great but good, and you sure won't leave hungry, you're right!

We are staying at the Renaissance somewhere downtown. Are these areas within a reasonable distance? I know zip about Houston.

We are staying near the Galleria. Is there any action around there? How far from Reliant stadium? I will return the favor for Miami.

Also, the Richmond Strip is near the Galleria and has lots of clubs and bars. The newer, hipper places tend to be downtown near Market Square.

How long and far from Galleria to Reliant stadium? How far from Galleria to Market square? Anybody know any hot latin clubs?

Without traffic, it takes 10 to 15 minutes to Reliant Stadium. That said, there's a lot of road construction on the freeways and feeder roads near the Galleria, so it's getting very backed up. Also, I well imagine that there will be considerable traffic on game day. Allow a lot of time!

To get from the Galleria to downtown will take about 15 minutes non-rush hour and about 30 mintues rush hour. (It's really not that far mileage-wise).

Besides eating, anybody have any suggestions late night before the game on Sat? Friday? Any good Health clubs-gyms near the Galleria?

More importantly, who are you cheering for?!

I know I will lose some friends with this answer. I am a season ticket holder with the Dolphins but my second team is the Carolina Panthers ALL THE WAY.

Born and raised in Boston. Being a Panther fan is not an option. And,I don't think anyone is putting down the Panthers. I'm not. But the Pats will win.

But for some reason, the North East looks down on the south and can't find anything good about the area.

Charlotte is a lovely town, a great place to raise a family, near the beaches and the mountains and will soon have the Super Bowl champs.
