Sunnyside Restaurant in Lake Tahoe

Can anyone share your experience with the Sunnyside Restaurant in Lake Tahoe? I am planning a small "after-wedding" luncheon party in a fine dining type of restaurant. I'm looking for a more upscale restaurant with good food and lake view. Is the sunnyside restaurant suitable for this kind of party? They said they can give us a private banquet room with lake view. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sunnyside does have great views and the menu in the main dining room (which is probably the menu you'd be offered) is quite upscale. It has been a long time since I ate indoors there so won't comment about the food. (It used to be very good but things can change)

The outdoor deck is very casual, and your dining room may overlook that. A private dining room at Sunnyside will be rustic but on the posh-ish side. Don't know how well you know Tahoe - there are some posh places but being a mountain resort, even the upscale restaurants tend to be more casual than in a big city.

We have only dined out on the deck as well. The views of the marina and lake are gorgeous. Sounds like this would be a nice choice for what you're looking for. Have fun! ***kim***

We had lunch last summer at Sunnyside out on the deck. The food was fair. I cannot comment on the indoor dining options. But you may want to seek out the West Shore Cafe. It is located at the foot of Homewood along the lake. They used to have just an outdoor facility, only open in summer. But they had been working on a permanent facility and were to open last August 2005. We always loved the spot. Check it out. Sorry, I didn't keep their #.

Wow I've eaten there many many times. They have always been really great even with a group of 9 of us on the deck for dinner during the summer just off the boat. They don't mind how you dress either. Everyone enjoyed their meal esecially those of us who ordered their specials.

Also have been there for Mother's Day dinner and they were fantastic in the dining room too. The dining room to the right as you stand at the indoor hostess stand is very nice. Huge windows with a great lake view. It's slightly elevated from the deck so the people on the deck will not block the view of the indoor diners.

Another choice for good food and lake views is Double Eagle at the Hyatt in Incline. There is a restaurant at Chambers Landing that holds many weddings during the summer and fall and the set up is quite elegant. Many weddings take place on the end of the pier for a fantastic lake backdrop and then the reception is at the restaurant.

Make that the Lone Eagle Grill at the Hyatt in Incline Village. Fantastic views of the lake and less than 30 minutes from So Lake Tahoe. Very upscale menu in an old Tahoe setting.

I've just eaten outside on the deck at Sunnyside, lots of fun, beautiful view. You might also want to check out Garwoods in Tahoe Vista, also nice food, great lakeview.
