Can you recommend a resort or great hotel in Cooperstown? Restaurants? Activities? I am traveling with my husband and 10 year old son(baseball fanatics) and am hoping for some other interesting things to do while we're there(for me). thanks!

Make reservations now - can't recommend a good place since we waited too long and got a crummy place. We found the Farmers Museum surprisingly interesting.

Don't miss the James Fennimore Cooper museum across the road from the Farm Museum. It was a total surprize and a real gem. One of the best small museums I've ever seen. You can buy a combination ticket to the Hall of Fame/Farm Museum/Cooper Museum and save on the admissions.

Can't really reccomend a hotel either. We stayed at one right on the lake, about two blocks from the HOF, but I found it overpriced and not really nice (tiny room). Good luck.

just letting you know that there currently is a traveling exhibit with lots of baseball hall of fame items, called 'baseball in america' therefore the hall of fame's exhibits will not be all there during the summer. the traveling exhibit will be at the american museum of natural history in NYC until mid-august, then it will travel elsewhere. i don't know what percent of 'hall of fame' items will be on the road (i've never been to the hall of fame, but will see 'baseball in america' on sunday).

The Otesaga is "The" resort in Cooperstown. It's on the lake, and has golfing and a very nice restaurant. another nice place to stay is the Inn at Cooperstown, a B&B. Both are within walking distance to the Baseball HOF. I've stayed at both, if you have any questions. Each place has their own website - do a search.

We enjoyed the Inn at Cooperstown. It's a B&B, but a rather large one, so you don't have that staying-in-someone-else-s-house feeling, and we received a very warm, down-to-earth welcome. It has a lovely front porch, and is within easy walking distance of the HOF and many eateries. No TV's or phones in the rooms, though.

Anita, We stayed at the Cooper Inn, not to be confused with the Inn at Cooperstown. It is affiliated with The Otesaga, so you can use the Otesaga's facilities (nice outdoor pool overlooking the lake), but get the advantage of a big, 2 room suite (we paid $ 185 for the 2 room suite) which included a delicious breakfast. The Inn is very nice. I think it gives you the best of both worlds, large rooms, breakfast plus the use of The Otesaga's pool.

We took our sons, who were 8 and 11 when we went and we all loved it. The town is very pretty, and even I thought the museum was interesting enough to return to on the second day. My sons and husband are fanatics (I'm not), but I still had a much better time than I anticipated and would love to go back!
