Summer East Coast Beach Vacation that won't break the bank

As the title states...we are looking to take a beach vacation on the east coast this summer.
Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to go with a teenager? We want to relax, do the beach thing...have some good food and wine. Throw a little site seeing and/or hiking in there somewhere would be nice. Please share any ideas you might have. Thanks!

Maybe you be a little more specific.

The Coast along the East is huge...There are many towns that could work with Teens.

I would say that the ocean water gets warmer the further south you go so New England may be too cold for swimming.

Also, the summer is the most expensive time of the year.

Exactly how are we to determine which of the 2000+ miles of Eastern US coast would work for you considering that most places will have wine and food and the beach itself means you can hike and no one knows what you can afford?

Pick a couple of states and ask about them. Otherwise, you need to throw your own darts.

Try some places that just aren't as wellknown or trendy, like South COunty in Rhode Island, I think they have about 20 beaches.

Does it have to be really hot weather? I like the coast of New Hampshire and Maine a lot.
