Yeah, Winchester Mystery house is the greatest thing since the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. While you're there.. be sure to walk across the 280 freeway.. WOW, kids love it! There's also a used car lot, a gas station, a patio world, a taco bell, and some suspect book stores nearby.. all must sees! Make a day of it! WOOT! GO SAN JOSE!

Looks like you have plenty to think about from the above messages. I've lived in SJ for the last 18 years and I've never made it to WMH. I don't think I'd waste my time there. The Monterey Peninsula is a much better bet. Santa Cruz boardwalk is pretty neat for those who don't get the seaside much. Have fun planning!!

Hey JP,
Since you have never been to the Winchester Mystery House, how can you possibly say whether or not it is a place to see? Also, exactly why are you comparing the Winchester Mystery House to the Monerey Peninsula. Your comparing apples and oranges. It is not a valid comparison.

Couple of things - first, do take a trip to Angel Island, but plan in advance - the boat ride is short, but not very frequent. I missed my chance to go because I hadn't planned it properly. Second, do check out the Alcatraz tickets well in advance. In August the waiting list will be at least a few weeks. Thirdly, my own must see place in San Francisco is Mission Dolores. It doesn't take long, but is a really beautiful little place. If you wany to see the GG bridge, then actually go to it. The view from the ferry is lovely (especially at sunset) but it is worth a visit. You can walk across it up until about 9pm and it has great views of the city (so does Sausalito). If you have the energy and/or car you could climb up to the Marin headlands, a great photo point. I have some ace photos of the bridge on a misty day from there. Other than that, just see what you can and have a great time. I love San Francisco and the area, I definitely left my heart there!

I spent several days in Healdsburg...one of the most beautiful places it relax. Check out the DUCHAMPS
b&b ....think they have a website and were listed in one of the wine mags as a great spot. If you like contemp styling this is it....no teddy bears in lace and very comfortable individual cabins.
