Suggestions for lunch for 8 in Greenwich Village

My brother and his family will be going to NYC in a few weeks. They are meeting their friends from London who have expressed interest in “having lunch in Greenwich Village”. I need some help here – not sure what to recommend. The group is 4 adults, 4 kids (3 girls, 1 boy) ages 8-11. They are not picky eaters, the kids are willing to try new things and I would like to suggest something besides pizza or a deli-style lunch, (they will be having that experience on other days.) Entrée price range maybe $10-$12 or under?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The price range is somewhat challenging.

You could do the Peanut Butter Company on Sullivan. Kids might like that....

Maybe just bagels at Murray's for a light lunch. Very NY style.

Everything else that is coming to mind is either average or pizza.

ok, I chose the price range because I was thinking of my brother spending $60 on entrees alone (this was not including drinks, tip etc), so if you went to $20 for just the entree do you have some ideas? I wouldn't mind a bagel for lunch but I don't think this is what they had in mind. Thanks!

(that was $60 on entrees, sans drinks & tip, for his family - not the whole group.)

English seem to love Chumley's. They don't serve lunch during the week, but do on weekends.

In a similar vein, Elephant & Castle might amuse them

Le Jardin Bistro would be nice

Jane is another idea.

I second "Jane". Great burgers and salads. Good location between G.V and Soho.

What nice suggestions - thank you!! They will be visiting during the week so unfortunately Chumley's is out, but these other options are great - thank you!

I'm a bit ignorant of NYC geography despite having just been there, but if Pastis is considered in Greenwich Villlage, then I recommend it for you, Margo. When we were there on a weeknight, there were several families with small-to-medium size (!) kids. The bistro menu was reasonably priced and would please kids and adults, IMO. And the atmosphere is great. I only hope it's located where I think it is!
