Suggestions for California Trip

I am heading to LA inJune for my nephews HS graduation. Generally when my husband and I travel to LA we take a few days to see the great state of California outside of LA. Our past trips have included San Diego, San Francisco and Catalina. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a quick getaway (three nights) driving from LA. I realize this is pretty general but I have gotten such good suggestions in the past here I thought I would try again. The dates we are looking at are June 6-9.

Well, sometime soon I will be planning something similar-- a 3-day getaway from Long Beach. I'm planning to do the "Sideways" thing: set up HQ in the Buellton/Solvang area, hit a winery or two, put a picnic together somewhere.

How about Santa Barbara? Or San Luis Obispo? You could hit Hearst Castle from SLO....

The desert will be borderline broiling by early June, but I still find it fun. Palm Springs can be a treat, and the snowbirds have generally all left by June.

Yosemite National Park but you might find it hard getting reservations at this late date.

If it doesn't have to be in California, you might try Zion National Park.

I would be inclined to head north along the coast. If you want to see some terrific coastline, head up to Big Sur.

I second Yosemite. The falls should still be pretty full. School isn't out for allot of CA schools so maybe the park won't be as crowded as it would be in the middle of summer.

I agree with the SLO suggestion. There's Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Cambria and San Simeon all close by. My second choice would be Santa Ynez Valley, Solvang and Los Olivos area. Which is close to Santa Barbara. The region of the movie Sideways. It could be getting hot there in June though.
