Sugar Beach Resort & Kihei area

Has anyone stayed at the Sugar Beach Resort condominiums on Maui ? Any comments on the Kihei area in general ? We stayed at the Westin in May and want to try the condo route on our return trip next year. Thanks for any feedback !

Not familiar with the condo situation. Was in Wailea in June, most shopping and services were in nearby Kihea.
I dont think the hotels are generally on the beach there but the Maui coast looked very nice and new, across the street from the beach.
Much more affordable than some of the resort areas . Prob depends on what your needs are and how important beachfront is.

We have a condo in Kihei and have always liked the area better than being in Lahaina. There are plenty of grocery stores, restaurants and shops to keep you busy, but not so much that you feel it encroaching on you.

Some friends of mine liked the hustle and bustle of being "in town" better 'cause they like to go to bars and hang at night, but with our kids, we prefer the slower pace in Kihei.

The beach near us is small, but never crowded and I know many of the condos along S. Kihei Road use these beaches.

Don't know where the Sugar Beach Resort is, but odds are it's on S. Kihei Road...
Have a great time!

We stayed in Kihei in Feb; found it to be very convenient and less crowded. We stayed at the Maui Kamaole Condos o S. Kihei Rd. Very nice place, and rather reasonable compared to Kaanapali area.
We used Condo Rentals Hawaii to make arrangements 1 800 367 5242. Have a great trip

I have not stayed at Sugar Beach Resort, but I know where it is. It's located in the north end of Kihei, and it does have a great, beautiful beach. This resort IS on the beach, and it looks like most, if not all rooms have beach views. Only thing is, it's about 5-10 minutes from south Kihei, where all the restaurants/shops are. No problem if you're renting a car.

Bill,

Go to www.islandbookshelf.com, and the owner of that company stays at Sugar Beach Resort every year when she makes her annual trip to Hawaii. Her name is Jodi, and she told me they never stay anywhere else. She has written a travel book on Maui, knows her stuff, and finds Sugar Beach Resort to be just what she wants, and a good value. She's a lovely person, and I'm sure will answer your e-mail.
