Success or Failure: Listen up Fodors
Looks like we may have 'wrenched defeat out of the jaws of victory', as they say. So many complainers about anyone who was clever, a tad rude, too funny, controversial, etc., that Fodors made them all go away. Now we are complaining about it being 'boring' Kinda like a kid who smashes their new toy out of frustration and then complains that they are bored and have nothing to do, huh.

I agree 100%. I used to get a real kick reading the slams and flames. Most of it was meant in good nature. Sure, some people took offense, but overall it made the board a WHOLE lot more interesting and fun than it is now.
You almost get the feeling that Big Brother is watching and you had better keep it very straight.
On the plus side, it doesn't take near as long to read the boards as it used to. Now I have to find something to do with my extra spare time.

Sorry, I don't agree with the first two posters. As an 'old timer' who's been a regular (different name) on this forum since 1999, the past 6 months have been horrible. Nasty, juvenile and trite ruled the day and most of that wasn't even about travel. Find a chat room if you want to talk about controversial or misc. subjects--I'm here to talk travel. Period. End of story!

I agree that it is much better this way so far. But what I don't understand is if people find the new board boring and lacking humor, then why don't they add some posts that aren't boring and do have some humor?
So far it seems like their posts are dull and dry, just complaining. No one is stopping anyone from doing interesting and even humorous posts.

The big reason for the large reduction in posts since registration is the fact that the system has been sllllooooooowwww. Sometimes you can't post at all. Give it a week or two more. Sure, you won't see quite as many posts as before because some anonymous flamers liked to do hit-and-run with different ID's. Much more of a pain to do with registration.
I think this is already a much better place since registration came into place.

I would rather see a Dr. Phil quote than Jerry Springer. We have enough serious things in all our lives right now so lets not take it out on each other.I love to travel and like to have the info before I go. This is better than just reading the books. I like the personal opinions of places to go and see.

At one point in time I recommended limiting the length of threads because of the length of time it took to come up. I was blasted, flamed and called all sorts of nasty names.
I will miss some of the more humorous threads tho. A lot of the posters had a quick wit and often brightened my day.
