subway to US Open on Sunday, 9/3
Our tickets for the US Open are for 11 am. I'm sure there will be a crush of people on the subway. What time do you suggest leaving to avoid the worst of the crowd, yet not get there ridiculously early? Or is there anything to do if getting there very early? Our hotel is in the Times Square area.
Thanks!

I've been attending the US Open for the last five years and discovered that it's much easier and faster to take Long Island Rail Road from Penn Station rather than the 7 train. LIRR is running extra trains to accommodate those that are traveling to the Open. Here's a link to their website with schedule information:

I think it depends if you want to be there right when the matches start at 11, or if you don't mind getting there a little later. Since the schedule says that trains depart at :14 and :44 past the hour on Sunday, I'd take the 10:14 train if you want to be there right on time, or take the 10:44 if you don't mind getting to the tennis center a few minutes late.
