student housing in San Diego ?!

Hello,

I'm a french student and i'm gonna soon move to San Diego for a couple of months to study there. I'm having a hard time to find a place to stay in SD. Any recommendations ?
I'm looking for a place with american or international students and where it's cheap and comfy.
Thanks for your help !!

Most students prefer to rent/stay in the Mission Beach area.
A second area would be Ocean Beach
3rd area would be Mission Valley
I don't rec Colleage area as alot of crime and no beach...

Lots of places with rooms for rent..check out craigslist.com
and then go to San Diego.
Most students head to Mission Beach/Pacific Beach..great place to live, party and go to SDSU!
Room rates go for anywhere around $500 a month and up..hope that is cheap and comfy for you.
Have fun..San Diego is a great place to live and go to college!

Where are you studying? I went to school at UCSD, so my bias is more that direction, but if you're studying at SDSU that's too far for commuting. (You can, but there's no reason to.) I'll check back on this thread and respond once I have more info.

You should really first check with UCSD (University of California San Diego) or SDSU (San Diego State University) because they have great foreign student supports. Even if you aren't planning to go to either of those schools they may be able to help you with information.

I personally would stay away from Mission Beach as it is a fairly high crime area. There are a lot of bars, transients, and they have had an upsurge in crime in the last few years.
