Stratosphere Tower Hotel

Stayed there summer of 00, as i recall, before they finished remodeling (which, by the way, must have been the slowest remodel ever in the history of Vegas). I believe they added a new tower extension. The place is relatively cheap, but decent enough a place to stay at. Rooms are nice. Nothing too special at all, but nothing bad either. However, I can't comment on the food. When we stayed there, we had comps via my grandmother for free food down the street at the Frontier. The biggest downside of the Stratosphere is that it's a hike from everything decent on the strip. Unless you're really into Circus Circus and the skanky Riviera, you will spend a lot of time in cabs or in trollies or on the bus. Also, if you want to grab somthign from your room, its not the most convenient. For a cheaper room that wont break the bank but is closer to all that glitters, i would suggest Harrah's up the strip. Not exactly spectacular either, but brand new remodel as of 01 and much closer to things. Easily walkable to Paris, Bally's Caesers, across from Mirage and nextdoor to the Venetian.
Also, if it's not too expensive, try the Monte Carlo. We usually stay there, and it's a georgous hotel with a great location. Rooms are barely above average, but the staff and ameneties are superb. Also, the buffet is one of the best in Vegas, in my opinion.
Have fun in Vegas! LOVE Vegas to death!

Why did you pick the strat?
I personally prefer to stay at the hotels that are mid strip for the same price: Harrahs, Ballys, Hilton Flamingo.
Also just out of curiosity why are you asking for comments when you have already paid for the room. Or are they refundable reservations? In that case I'd say get your money back.
