Red Lion Inn is quaint and creaky with a jumble shop collection of furniture and pictures in its hallways and pleasant if sometimes tired rooms. The great feature is the long front porch from which to watch the world go by, but the world may not be going by in December nor might it be warm enough! The breakfasts -- the only meals I have eaten when staying there -- are superb. I would suppose that Christmas decorations would be in place soon after Thanksgiving, and it is certainly a good location to tour from.

Friends also like the Egremont Inn in nearby South Egremont.

Stockbridge has a good collection of Beatle momentos - more than a lot of shops in Liverpool.
If you need curtain material there is a shop at the back of the Red Lion that has a really good selection.
Haven't stayed at the Red Lion but it must be the best in the area.

The curtains store mentioned is Country Curtains. The Norman Rockwell Museum is not far away either if you are interested

You'll be visiting during the Stockbridge Christmas Festival. It will be crowded so suggest you get a reservation in right away.

Red Lion is very pretty at Christmastime. It is located right in town center. I've only been to Stockbridge on day trips so am not familiar w/lodgings, but in a google search for B&Bs came up the Stockbridge Country Inn, The Inn at Stockbridge, Conroy's B&B and the Merrill Inn. There are probably other B&Bs as well and there are two motels I pass when driving on the main road into town.
