My daughter and I can't decide between Enchantment, one of the better Best Westerns, Sedona Rouge or Hilton. Does anyone know if any of these is worth the extra money? We are not big on spas or views, since we spend little time in the room. Spa service is nice but some of these seem just too high. A great pool area, with shade options and access to town , whether by car or walk, and some night life (music not a bar) is preferable. We checked the reviews and they all seem fine. Any thoughts or new suggestions?

stayed at all of them and if your not into spas or views I would do Sedona Rouge or BW inn of Sedona..rates are probably less than $150 a night..Sedona Rouge is very Kimpton Hotels which I am a huge fan..great beds and linens with a great restaurant for breakfast and happy hour too.
love Enchantment resort but its around $800 a night and that really is just crazy to spend for a room these days..now, if you got a deal for less than $200, I would take it!
Have lunch at Yavapai at Enchantment which is great..dinner at Elote Cafe is awesome.

We stayed at Enchantment a few years ago and just loved it! The resort is located in Boynton Canyon which offers spectacular views as well as a few hikes on/near the property. The pool has gorgeous views of the red rocks as do most of the rooms. There is Mi Amo, which is highly rated, if you wish to use it.

We stayed in a studio that had a murphy bed and worked out great for us. (Our rate was under $300). It was a lower-price room that offered a kitchenette that was perfect for cooking breakfast or fixing a snack for a hike. Later we grilled on the patio and a bellman came to start the fire for us making it very easy and relaxing.

Yavapai restaurant is good and their smaller cafe (is it the same name?) was nice, too, on the patio.

If we didn't want to take several hikes we wouldn't have left the property. It had everything we were looking for.

I can't help on the night life as ours involved a bottle of wine and enjoying the sunset. And after a nice dinner in town it was a short drive back to the resort -- maybe 10-15 minutes.

My sister liked Sedona Rouge but it is in town so it offers a different environment than Enchantment.

I've heard good things about the Best Western -- good location downtown by the creek and a good value for Sedona (nothing seems cheap anymore).

It was all about the views for us so Enchantment won hands down.

I spend half the year in Sedona (winter), and I would echo the Elote restaurant recommendation (keep in mind that they are closed Sun-Tues). For a real Sedona experience, if you like steak, The Cowboy Club in uptown Sedona (the tourist area) is also worth a try. Finally, Walt's Main Street Cafe in West Sedona (across from Sedona Rouge) is a notch above most Sedona restaurants. If you're not into spas, the rates at Enchantment are hard to justify, especially as it is a bit of a ride from the various activities in town. I haven't stayed at Sedona Rouge or Best Western, but you might also consider l'Auberge, which has a lodge and creekside cabins or a wonderful B&B called El Portal, where the rooms are each decorated in a different theme. Both l'Auberge and El Portal are pricey, but well-located, and in my opinion, worth the cost.

forgot to add that we also stayed at the Hyatt Pinion in Sedona in the heart of the town and that was very nice too.
Just beware they have timeshare activity and you know how that can be..great pool.
check expedia.com and direct for the best deals..

Thanks for your input. I checked out all the hotels mentioned but it is hard to find info on the pool area which is important to us in the lower priced hotels ie. BW Sedona Inn or Sedona Rouge. Any other suggestions?

I was about to give BW Inn of Sedona a glowing review. However, if I remember correctly, the pool was a little crammed in. Not sure I remember correctly.

My room was on the 3rd level (actually main level). There are several rooms that have a door to the parking lot and another to a patio facing Chimney Rock. Great way to relax.

BW Inn of Sedona has a really small pool..
Hyatt has a large pool..
Sedona Rouge has an average pool..nothing like a resort pool though.

don't forget that you don't need to be in your room to get the views. I mention this because of the magnificence of the views all around you at Enchantment. Wherever you look, no matter where you are on this property, the gorgeous views are all around you. I was just so taken aback by this... we didn't stay at Enchantment just had an amazing lunch in their restaurant and walked around the property a little. It is pretty removed from anything else but a gorgeous drive to get there.

We stayed in the little motel up by the airport that has great views, very cottagey but great views... doesn't sound like what you are looking for. Loved the little hike to the airport vortex though. and loved the views from here.

So now we are looking at King's Ransom and the Hyatt. Since it is my daughter and not my husband with me, and we are more likely to be out all day hiking, we are thinking a nice clean room and decent pool is what will work best. I also heard that the cafe at King's Ransom is a must food stop while in Sedona. Does anyone know how far King's Ransom is from town or if it is hard to find if we arrive after dark.
