The Castillo de San Marcos would be fun. It is an old Spanish outpost. See http://www.nps.gov/casa/ for more

Pam--
Kids will enjoy the beach, some of the siller attractions (Fountain of Youth, Ripley's, Alligator Farm etc.) but they will most enjoy climbing all the way to the top of the historic St. Augustine Ligthhouse, a beautiful black and white stripe landmark that has a rich history and is supposedly haunted. There's a small museum there, too. Also, there's an open-air tour tram that runs through the city---take it, is it is the bast way to see everything without having to park, which can be a hassle there. Kids will like the ride, and you'll get a dose of history, too.
Definitely go to the A-1A Alehouse while you are in town. It's one of the best restaurants in the area and has a terrific view of the Bridge of Lions and the bay.
Have fun!
