spring break where should I go?
We live in Missouri and have a one week vacation the last week in March. We would like to go on a little trip; but, at the same time, avoid all of the college spring breakers. My husband likes to play golf and I like sight seeing and shopping. Most of the warm places that I are on my short list would also have many college students at that time of year (Cancun, Gulf of Mexico, Padra Island, New Orleans). Any suggestions out there?

There are many places in Florida which will not be ruined by spring break. Take a look at www.cheap2travel.com as they have many Florida packages and Vegas Too! The rates are great and it is fll of info
good luck

Destin on the Florida panhandle would be a good choice. Although it is a popular Spring Break spot, it draws mostly families and not college students (Panama City, 50 miles east, is the college spring break mecca). If your husband likes golf, he will love Destin. There are probably close to 20 courses in the area. The beaches are some of the most beautiful in the country and there is a very popular outlet center (I think the largest in the country). The only drawback is that the water might still be a little chilly, but the weather should be beautiful. Check out www.abbottresorts.com for tourist information and condo reservations.

Melba, I have three suggestions: South of Cancun in the riviera maya is fabulous and won't have the sping breakers from Cancun. The golf, shopping and sightseeing(mayan ruins) is definitely in this area.
2. Also, Puerto Rico has great golf, beaches and shopping.. and its not a spring break hangout!
3. Jamaica. A great place for golf, beaches, and definitely shopping. Even though spring breakers go here, at the right resort.. you won't see any of them.
I am an agent and I've been to all 3 locations, call me toll free 877-672-3345, if I can help further.

Just returned from 2 months in Destin FL. The outlet mall there is called Sand Dollar, and it is by no means the largest in the country. You have to be very careful shoppng there because there aren't many bargains. In some of the stores the prices were higher than retail at home. Know what you want and how much it is before you go in.

US Traveller,
FYI the outlet center is not called Sand Dollar. It is Silver Sands. And according to their own billboards, they claim to be the largest designer outlet center in the US. What exactly that means, I don't know. As with all outlet centers, you have to search for the bargains, so your comment on the prices is no surprise. Nevertheless, the center is extremely popular amonng visitors and locals alike.

Savannah and Charleston are nice places, but in the Spring you're really rolling the dice with the weather if you go in March or April. Weather can be blustery and cool, or warm and pleasant - it's a toss up. Obviously, the further south you go, the more your weather improves.
