Animal Kingdom Lodge

Has anyone stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge? My husband wanted to stay there with a savannah view room. I'm skeptical that it is worth the extra money. Anyone know for sure?

I haven't but heard it was nice. If you call WDW central reservations and ask for an "upsell" you can get it for $ 190 garden view and $210 savannah view. They gave me these prices yesterday for March.

Haven't stayed, but read a review that made me want to. They said there is constant sightings, and you can get up early and watch the feedings outside your window. Also, on travel talk a few months back, was a "hosted thread" about Florida, and several of the posts described the place. Look on travel talk home for archived hosted threads.

I'd have to really stop and think how long I was going to be in the room before I'd pay prices like that. I've been to the Animal Kingdom Lodge several times for dinner, and you can see plenty of animals when you simply walk outside and look. I would save $100+ per night on lodging (unless you MUST stay at WDW) and spend that money elsewhere!

We stayed there for 4 nights in October. We had gotten a great rate for a standard room (parking lot view), and was upgraded to a pool view room when we arrived.
It was a very nice hotel. We enjoyed the pool area, and we spent a lot of time walking the grounds to view the animals.
We were more inclined to relax at the hotel after spending all day at the park vs. going to a different location in the evening.
The biggest advantage to me was that we requested and got a room with 1 queen bed and 2 bunk beds in our room vs. having 2 doubles at the All Star resort. We all slept much better than usual.

TC,

My family and I have stayed at every Disney property except two, and we loved the Animal Kingdom Lodge. However, a savannah view room is a MUST.
Seeing the animals coming and going all day AND NIGHT is great fun. A pool view is nice, but not unique, and a parking lot view forget.

Highly recommended!
