Forgive me for asking what is probably a dumb question but I know absolutely nothing about sports. My husband and I will be in Kissimee mid-late June and he is a sports fan. He has never been to a pro team sport (aside from CFL) and would love to see just about anything so I was hoping to find something in the area while we're there. He loves lacrosse and hockey but of course both of those are out while we're there but if you know of anything that isn't crazy expensive and is in the area that would be great!

I understand, as my husband is a big sports fan as well. Kissimmee and Orlando has spring training baseball (Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves), but it's over now that the regular season has begun. You can always see the Orlando Magic, but in mid-June, you are nearing the end of the playoffs, and that will a) depend on the schedule b) depend on how well the Magic do in the playoffs, and c) be expensive tickets to get. There is also the Orlando Titans (National Lacrosse League). However their schedule ends in late April and I am not sure what the playoff schedule is like.

Therefore, the only sport left that will be playing in mid-June is the the Arena Football League (Orlando Predators), a semi-pro sport. Their games are held in downtown Orlando, at the Amway Arena. You can check out their schedule online (where they have 2 home games in mid-May). These games are different from the NFL, as it is not a family atmosphere.

If you just want to just watch sports in a good atmosphere, you can check out the Wide World of Sports at Disney, and catch some of the games on TV. Or you could go to the ESPN Zone for some lunch or dinner. (The ESPN Zone is located at the Boardwalk Hotel on Disney property). However, you don't need a Disney ticket for either one of these places and Disney is close to Kissimmee.

Could drive to Tampa for a Tampa Rays game.

That's true. Tampa is only about 1 1/2 hours away and tickets are not too difficult to get. There is also the Florida Marlins, but Tampa is a lot closer to Kissimmee, than Miami.

Also, there is minor league baseball. Lakeland, Daytona, and Brevard county are all within roughly an hour's drive and have minor league teams. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/index.jsp?sid=l123
