It is always unfortunate when someone asks a question or for suggestions and then responds or comes back to see the answers posted by dedicated Fodorites. I don't think the OP realizes that although we love to give our 2 cents worth [and usually very valuable first hand ideas] it does take a lot of time to write a reply and we do like to have feedback from OP.
I the case of this thread...I topped it for someone else. Sometimes it is faster than re-answering similiar Q's from new posters.

For those wanting to stay in the Mesa Verde area, we stayed in Cortez at the Holiday Inn Express. This place was fantastic. Very clean, decorated nice and an absolutely fabulous continental breakfast that was free. This was more like a full breakfast with cheese omletes, waffles, fresh hot cinamon rolls, fresh fruit, etc. This was one of the best places we stayed on our 3 week SW trip
