Hi!

We're considering a trip to South Lake Tahoe in the last week of March with our daughter (who will then be ten months old).

A few questions/info:
- With the baby, we wanted a place with a kitchen and the Mariott residences looked nice and not that pricey. Any thoughts/suggestions? I know there is a Safeway closeby and that is good since we want to ensure we cook fresh food for the baby (Its also good because I can get my fix of Indian tea with milk every morning - ah!)

- We're not big skiers so don't plan to do any of that stuff

- Is it possible to do short hikes with nice views - put the baby in the stroller and just walk?

- Should we buy any special warm clothing for the baby?

- Any good vegetarian restaurant options you may suggest? (If the place serves meat, that's fine, as long as they have veggie options)

- Other activities/ideas? Largely, we just want to spend time together and I want to play with the kid as much as possible.

The Marriotts are both nice. Stayed at both. Like the Grand the best. Parking is outrageous though so we park over at Harrahs for free.

Safeway is too far away from the Mariotts. Raleys, which is larger and better, is across the street. They have a great bakery, deli and hot food. Ours has sushi even.

Vegetarian in Tahoe is Freshies. Great food.

There will be far too much snow for any hiking. The sidewalks should be clear for strolling with baby and you can take a scenic gondola ride at Heavenly.

Don't know where you're living now but you'd likely have enough warm clothes for the baby. It's not like she can walk in the snow or go sledding so no worries about having boots and gloves.

Help me understand why you're asking help on how to take care of the baby & what you should do with the baby on this trip???

If you are not skiers and of course you can't do much in the snow with an infant, I suggest you find someplace else for this trip. Although Tahoe is beautiful, there will still be so much snow, and about the only other thing to do is go to casinos on the Nevada side of town, which isn't for infants, either, obviously.

Well if the weather continues to be as warm as it was this weekend there won't be much snow except on the slopes.

Thanks! We're debating between Tahoe and Santa Barbara now (hoping that SB is kid-friendly) given that Tahoe might still be cold and we're discovering that she hates cold weather (even if we bundle her up and put her in blankets. She does not like being all bundled up and prefers being free and crawling around (clearly, thats more fun for a kid...)

Seriously, there's no "might" about it, it WILL still be cold. The ski areas don't close until April. I don't know how kid-friendly Santa Barbara is, but given your last post, I'd definitely focus on someplace warm!

I live in the Sacramento area and am a regular visitor to Tahoe - one of my favorite places on earth. That said, March is not the time to visit there for a non-skiing coule with an infant. My daughter went to UCSB, so I've been to Santa Barbara many times and I would think it is a much beter destination in your case. Weather will be warm-ish, there are nice beaches (though the water is too cold for ocean swimming) and plenty of places to hike, either along the beach or in the nearby coastal mountains. There are also wineries, a zoo, parks, great shopping, etc. Come to Tahoe in the summer when you can appreciate the beauty of the lake and take advantage of the great hiking.
