Sofitel Miami Airport-Has anyone stayed there?

Well, Bonnie, there really isn't anything spectacular about the place. It's just a typical airport hotel, small rooms, plain bathroom. BUT -- the ONLY reason I like to stay there is because they have wonderful French food via room service (or in the main restaurant, if you so desire)! If it weren't for the French food I would probably stay at the Hilton.

Well, I know the exterior of the hotel is very "moderne" looking and rather unique for an airport hotel, but like I said, nothing spectacular on the inside, unless the rooms have recently been remodeled, I don't kknow (they're still small, though). Most of the Miami airport hotels are rather drab anyway, so I'm not sure it will make that much difference -- that is, if it's only for ONE night before taking off to another destination! Quite frankly, I don't think I could stomach a second night in any of them! Of course, if your friend wants to take a little longer drive and luxuriate in a lot more luxury, there's always the Ritz-Carlton in Coconut Grove or Key Biscayne (South Beach location MIGHT be open, not sure) as well as the Four Seasons downtown (that one might not be open yet either)! Even the classic Biltmore in Coral Gables, which is closer to the airport, might be a good option (also a Hyatt Regency there; beautiful new, upscale mall in the Gables, too)!

I have stayed there twice, but not recently. Nice rooms, but they must be saving a ton on water with the water saver shower heads. I recall that both times I had to get on my hands and knees with my head under the bathtub faucet to get the shampoo out of my hair.

That is not an unusual problem these days traveler. I now travel with a small crescent wrench and remove the inhibitor while I'm there, but be sure to replace it before I leave. It's a very easy procedure. Some of them restrict the water so much I can't really get a shower at all, just a mist.

Traveler, you jogged my memory once again with one of my biggest pet peaves! Yes, you're right, the water pressure was among the WORST I've ever experienced. Even the Venetian in Vegas had lousy pressure. Best so far that I can remember were the Halekulani Hotel in Hawaii and the Bellagio in Vegas.

Bonnie, I decided to go take a look at their photos on expedia, and I must admit, they have DEFINITELY remodeled the rooms, so I can understand why it looked so nice to you (looks much nicer to me, too)! I'm sure the bathrooms were updated as well (maybe even the weak shower, who knows!). Anyway, with the new decor of the rooms combined with the French food, I think this would be just fine!
