Lawndry is interesting emalloy. I tried to find an actual etymological connection to laundry but no luck. Still... makes sense. Missing John Ciardi when we need him.
But there is this warning:
grassy corner well open to the sun,...sheltered from high winds...the attentions of wandering poultry... and the incursions of pigs, puppies and calves...they not only soil the clothes, but will tear and even eat them"
Katherine Purdon, Laundry at Home, 1902, quoted by Pamela Sambrook
Drying outside, bleaching greens, washing lines, drying grounds, clothes pins, pegs, whitsters
Staying in Boston proper (actually Charlestown but right over the bridge) without a car worked out great for us, especially once we decided to use Uber for the farther afield trips to Plymouth and Salem. Next trip we may do something different and since no kids won't quite feel the pain of having to sell our first born to park.
