If it's not too much out of your way, it is a great experience. About 5 blocks of Higuera Street in Downtown San Luis Obispo are closed to car traffic, and then the party begins.
In addition to an amazing array of local farmer's fresh fruits and veggies, there are many fresh flower stalls. Local restaurants set up booths with food. There are several spots with huge Santa Maria style BBQ pits going. There are usually at least a couple of musicians performing. For the kids, there is usually a puppeteer. Always a fun time.

It is such a great time. Kind of like a huge block party. When we lived there for a year, we tried to go every Thursday with our baby. She loved it. We would eat our dinner there.
Many college kids are there, the farmers with their seasonal offerings, very cool and lovely at night, great food, party atmostphere. There is no Farmers Market like it that I know of. Truly unique, fun, clean, wholesome family experience. Cheap too.
