skyauction not a good deal

Looking for a lower airfare to Puerto Rico, I tried in skyauction and I end up paying double than the prices through orbitz or expedia. The bid price was good but after the fees and surchages, from $181.00 went to $325.00, and besides the high fare I also had many restrictions with traveling dates. So, be careful with skyauction.

I've used skyauction on several occasions and have had no problems. Got great airfares to Munich, Paris, and London.

You have to know what your maximum bid will be, including fees, surcharges, and weekend departures. If you are outbid, move on because there will be plenty of other opportunities.

The problem lies with getting caught up with the bidding and not knowing when to stop.

I haven't puchashed anything from the site, but I have looked. It seems that they clearly list all taxes and sucharges, along with options (day of week, etc). Some simple math should give you what the final price would be based on your bid.

I looked at a few auctions and decided that the prices weren't that great and could probably do better on my own.

Yes, you're right, they listed all the fees and surcharges, but my mistakes were: not to search before in others sites to find out how much would cost, and, haven't stop bidding. Then skyauction is not for everybody. Thanks so much.

We've used sky auction for several trips. Like with anything else, you need to know what you are doing. Sometimes auctions are not the best deals. We have found they are a reliable company though and have made good on a couple of snafus.

Actually, Skyauction.com is a travel agency in New York. We won 2 tickets to Munich, and they worked with us getting an extra 2 tickets so we could take the out-laws.
