SKY RANCH LODGE-SEDONA AZ.

Have read good things about the Sky Ranch Lodge in Sedona. Can someone tell me if it is better to book one of the cabins, rather than a king room with a view and a fireplace? Whats the basic difference between the two? To look at this place and the Orchards at L'Auberge on their websites the places seem somewhat simular. Should there be a preference of one over the other?

Descriptions can fool you. The Sky Ranch sits on top of a mesa with a vista that will knock your socks off. It is quiet, away from the highway, away from the scads of tourists. Get a king with a deck, preferably with a north view. The Orchards could be Motel 6, in the center of town, with all that implies.

Doesn't the Orchards at L'auberge sit atop a hill? What kind of view do we have from there?

Ginny....The Orchards is on the main street of town. The driveway to the parking lot is between their restaurant and other shops, so it is "behind" the shops of the main street. We always stay there and find the location superb for us and the views are wonderful. Last March we were there when it snowed overnight and woke up to see a gorgeous landscape. Then we were there just this late November and the town was very quiet, not too many tourists, but fabulous weather and we like The Orchards...pretty rooms and can walk to restaurants and easily drive to other locations. What you can see from the outside does not do justice to The Orchards. There are loads of lodging choices in Sedona and the scenery is so beautiful anthing you pick is likely to be fine.

When posting the original message, what I was really wanting to know , was thw difference between the cabin at the Sky Ranch Lodge and one of their king rooms. I threw in L'Auberge, becauuse when deciding where to stay in Sedona, it came down to these two places.

Whoa, Don! Don't confuse L'Auberge with the Orchards. L'Auberge is a **** resort directly on Oak Creek while the Orchards (although run by L'Auberge) is a Motel 6-type place up on the main street in the center of town, connected with the resort by a funicular tramway. Make sure which place you are considering. Sky Ranch is Sky Ranch.

Go for the King room on the end overlooking All of sedona! It's decorated southwest / lodgepole and has a small kitchenette area.
The airport restaurant is great and reasonable.
