Skagway White Pass and Yukon Expedition
Can anyone suggest a tour operator to book the Skagway White Pass Railway tour. A poster suggested booking directly at the Train Depot. Does anyone know how far that would be from the pier where the cruise ships dock as well as pricing for adults? Any info on this would be most appreciated.

I believe we booked it all online. All of the excursion people pick up within walking distance of the port.
This is the website. We did the all-day White Pass Yukon excursion.

If you do the railway, do one-way with the train and back with the bus. Gets very repetitive doing both ways on the train. Also, tends to rain more frequently in the mornings so you have a better chance of dry weather in the afternoon.

We just got back two weeks ago from our 7 day cruise to Alaska and did the White Pass and Yukon Expedition out of Skagway. We booked thought the cruise line because they guarentee if something happens they will make sure we get back to the ship but I think it cost a little more.
As far as walking distance, the docks are very close to town. We did the bus trip up to Carcross in the Yukon Territory and stopped at Cariboo Crossing for a BBQ lunch. Then we rode the bus back to Frasier where we caught the Train. This train ride covers approx. 7 miles more than the train ride that goes up and back. We really enjoyed the bus trip because the driver stopped in many locations for pictures. He also stopped twice for bears. He was very informative about the area and it's history. (Young college kid from Utah) This was a 5 hour bus tour and 3 hour train ride, but the train was late so we were almost an hour late getting back to Skagway.
Once in Skagway we decided to walk back to the ship instead of taking a bus that was waiting for us....it was that close! Later that evening after dinner we walked back to Skagway again to look into the shops.
