Since the door to the Lounge is locked - A Christmas Question….

Does anyone make a ginger bread house and actually eat it?

Why? because I never had a bit of one in my many years of seeing them on display, and I never assembled one. Sadly they always look stale and dusty to me. But pretty too. .

Dukey don't let the door hit you in the hoo haw

Well if you bake/assemble/eat the cake which is your favorite part of the house? The roof? The back porch? or the landscaping?

The age old dilemma is "when do you eat it?"... if it's new and fresh, it's likely too pretty to eat... if you wait til
after the Holiday, it's likely too stale to eat...

Do people in California make pools for their gingerbread house?

Why is the Lounge locked? Did you forget your key. We could use you over there inakauaidavidababy.

It depends on the source. A Ginger Bread kit bought at WalMart is best given to the birds when finished. However, if you make the ginger bread from scratch, form it, and make it with fresh items, it is reasonable to eat it within the week. We make them for the granddaughters with their help and the house seldom lasts more than a week. Even before we are finished some of the gumdrops have disappeared, then Santa always gets a few, and pretty soon the house gone. One of the mysteries of Christmas enjoyed by the young granddaughters.

I would totally buy the ginger bread house wrecking ball - in fact, I would MAKE a house just so that I could knock it down. I wouldn't eat it though - I don't care for ginger bread.

Maybe if everyone started doing it, talking off-topic on the destination forums, they would see the wisdom of re-opening.

The gingerbread for the house is supposed to harden. At least ours did when we used the Time-Life Germany cookbook recipe. It is not edible after a few days.
