Should we stay at Moqui Lodge?
My husband, three teenage boys, and I will be at the Grand Canyon for three nights in mid August. I tried for the El Tovar (I knew it was a long shot), and, although that was full, I was able to get a reservation for a room at the Moqui Lodge right outside the park. Has anyone stayed there, and would they recommend it? It sounded pretty nice from the description they gave me, but I know there's no pool, and my AAA guidebook describes it as having "rustic buildings", (I'm not sure what that means). I was wondering whether we would be better off trying to get a reservation at a national chain hotel in Tusayan. My kids might enjoy a swim after a long day of hiking in the heat. I had already tried a couple of places with no luck before I got this reservation. Thanks.
