In MOST of New York now, 95% of the places a visitor would go, you would have no way of knowing this thing had happened , except for the presence of flags everywhere.

I am visiting NYC right now and am very glad I came. There are no lines for your favorite things and people appreciate you. Don't postpone your trip - it's STILL the greatest city in the world!

NY is open for business. All of tribeca/soho/village and up from there are open (and most were the day after). Most of the financial district is also opened. People are back at work and in there homes down there. The only closed area is a fenced off area right around the WTC. It is about 6.5 miles from Times Square to the WTC. All that in between is alive and well (and of course, sad).

After I said in an earlier post that the streets of NYC were practically devoid of tourists, I hadn't been to Times Square yet! It was at its usual throbbing pace and filled with tourists, with more than 200 people on the TKTS line. The weather was wonderful too!
