Should I still go in my NYC trip
A friend and I have been planning our trip since May and we are going in early November. After the tragity we have started to rethink if we are going to go.
I just got on travelocity and I guess I can get full refunds for everything if I cancel before the 21st. But means we will have to make a decision quickly. I have asked other people if we should go and half said yes and the other said no.
What should I do?

Kitty, I just got back from a trip into the city to bring some supplies. What I saw was inspiring. There is an obvious police presence, and security certainly has never been tighter, but the city is alive and it was actually a moving experience. I just heard Mayor Giuliani on tv, asking people to come visit the city. Others from around the country can help by supporting the businesses, theaters, restaurants, etc. whose business will suffer from the tragedy, and also send a message that we are strong and doing well. It will have to be a different experience than if you were here in NY last month, but then, that would be pretty much true anywhere these days, wouldn't it. NYC still has so much to offer....

Rudy went on to say that it may be easier to get tics for The Procucers now.
He truly is doing a great job and has done a great job for that city.
I hear he even gave a bride away this afternoon. She may have been the sister of a fireman who was killed in the line of duty and had nobody to give her away?
Is this true?
He's a class act inspite of the messy, public divorce.

I say go! Hasn't New York suffered enough physiically, should they have to suffer financially also? I'm suure there are a lot of people and businesses in New York that depend on tourist for their livelihood. There is a lot to see and do in New York for tourist that is nowhere near the devistation around the WTC. But I am not from New York City, maybe it would be best for them to answer your question.

Please come and enjoy our wonderful, vibrant city! While there you will be experiencing history in the making. Yes, things are different in New York now- I suppose much as things are different in the rest of the nation. I imagine a vacation anywhere will be had with a bit of a heavy heart these days. However, we New Yorkers are going on...the applause on Broadway may not be as loud, the streets not quite as bustling, the stores along Fifth Avenue perhaps not as crowded. Since the Trade Center explosions we are somewhat more subdued, saddened and shocked and worry about what the future holds not just for New York but for the rest of the country and the world. But again, will a trip anywhere else make you feel any better? Please, America, don't let these religious fanatics take away our freedom! Don't allow them to sow the seeds of fear in our own boundaries! Kitty: come my friend, to New York. Make your first stop the Statue of Liberty (sorry, New Jersey- she'll always be a New York Lady) and remember why other countries are jealous of the blessings we have here in the United States.
