OOOhhhh! Yes yes yes! Lohmann's is my very favorite designer discount store. It's located at 3rd Street and La Cienega in Beverly Hills, adjacent to the Beverly Center. You can either walk (depending on where you're staying) or drive and there's parking underground beneath for like $1 for 2 hours, I think. And the Beverly Center is right there. Not too far from Beverly Drive and Robertson Boulevard, either. Not to mention Rodeo Drive.
Stay away from Ross Dress for Less- mostly crap.
You might check out Macy's Department store for their clearance racks-- I get lots of higher end designer stuff there, sometimes up to 90% off because it's been marked down so many times.
Good luck! Discount shopping/ sale shopping is my specialty

you're welcome! i personally am not a fan of vegas, so i wouldn't have the foggiest about shopping there... but, the Cabazon Outlets (off the 10 fwy in the east desert in California) are supposed to be really good.
Someone else might want to verify that info.

I can't think of any outlet centers that are reachable via public transport from L.A.
Maybe the Citadel but that would be a long bus ride with connections from Bev Hills. I know there is a Saks outlet in LVegas that you can get to on the bus.

Outlet stores tend to be on the outskirts of cities and towns. Since Los Angeles is a huge town (basically extending 60 miles west-east and 60 miles north-south), it stands to reason that its better outlets are WAY out of town (say, 100 miles out).
The Citadel is not on the same level as the outlet malls in Cabazon. It will be getting a Banana Republic outlet soon, but that's it as far as high-end stores. Here's its website:

It would be fairly difficult to get to the Citadel via MTA/other agencies (it's in the "city of Commerce", a specific municipality in the city of LA). If you go to mta.net and enter the end address of 5675 Telegraph Road, LA 90040), you can get a bus itinerary. I'm guessing at least one hour each way.
The two outlet malls in Cabazon are on the 10 freeway, about 10 minutes west of Palm Springs. Two hours driving from LA. No public transportation available. I have seen coach excursions from surrounding cities in their parking lots, so that might be one option. Talk to the concierge at your hotel. Here are the web sites:

Are you sure you don't want to rent a car to drive to Cabazon? It's a fairly easy drive, I would say 1.5 hours from downtown LA as long as you are not going on a Thurs-Friday night.
Las Vegas Premium Outlets are quite a bit smaller than Cabazon. You can look at the list of stores here: http://www.lasvegas.com/shopping/pre...floorplan.html
Don't think you will find much "High End" at the Citadel. Maybe Nordstrom Rack in Glendale?

mlgb is right-- if you can rent a car, from Beverly Hills you literally drive down La Ciénega to the 10 freeway, take a left to head east and drive 1.5 to 2 hours to Cabazon (take the Cabazon exit). It could not be easier.
If you cannot or will not drive, again I would see about coach excursions. It can be done, it's just a bit harder.
Either way, it's a day trip.

Thanks everyone, do appreciate your input. When I'm on holidays I like to be driven plus you guys drive on the other side of the road! The Desert Hills Premium outlet is beckoning and I've found out that Gray Line has shuttles to Cabazon so I am very hopeful.

While I love the Cabazon outlet mall, I think the one in Camarillo would be a lot closer to Beverly Hills. They have about the same stores there as in Cabazon, but you would not have to cross town and you could even use PCH for part of the drive. I don't know anything about accessibility without a car, though.
