Shelburne Murray Hill or Michelangelo?
Good morning! So you guys convinced me that our party of four adults really does need two rooms for our three night stay. We love the Michelangelo as we've stayed there before, but I can get a great deal at the Shelburne Murray Hill for a two bedroom suite via my timeshare. We've never stayed in that area before. Advise? Comparisons?

I haven't stayed at the Michelangelo, but love the area around the Shelburne. There are lots of great bistro restos there, walking distance to Grand Central, UN. They've been very kind to store luggage when I've had later flights. Excellent service, very secure. I believe some of the two bedrooms have two baths. I like being able to get up, make my own coffee, have a bowl of cereal, then start my day. End of day, like to sit in a living room (not on the edge of the bed) and share a glass of wine (nicely chilled from the 'fridge).

Do you get 2 bathrooms at the Shelburne in that suite? If no, can you get 2 studios or 2 one bedrooms with the same sort of deal?
The Shelburne is a good hotel. Vs. Michelangelo, it's smaller, has no grand lobby (but an ok lobby). There's a nice rooftop bar if you're coming in warmer weather. The area is near Grand Central Station. If this is mostly a theater trip, it's not as convenient a location and it's not as near to Central Park.
Don't know which timeshare co. has deals with Affinia group (owner of the Shelburne) but there's a very nice Timeshare property called the Manhattan Club that's not far from the Michelangelo. The Blakely is a nice smaller hotel also near the Michelangelo if you like that location.
If what you like about the Michelangelo is the size/feel of the place, the Barclay Intercontinental might be another less expensive option.
I wouldn't pay $2000 for a 3 night stay. I regularly see the Michelangelo for $295/night. For 3 nights times 2 rooms, that's still nowhere near $2000., but there are plenty of options inbetween these 2 extremes.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the feedback. I love the feel of the Michelangelo, and the rooms are very nice. However, for the $$, it sounds as if the Shelburne Murray Hill will fit the bill nicely and will give us the opportunity to experience a different part of the city.
