I went to San Deigo to see my boyfriend graduate from Marine Basic Training. While walking around MCRD with him and his mom I hear someone call my name. I turn around to see a friend from church in uniform. It turns out that he had joined the Marines and was graduating basic with my boyfriend.

My small world story is right here online:

http://folksonline.com/folks/famtree/2001/penpals.htm

It is about how my Romanian pen pal and I were reunited after 32 years. Read the story all the way to the end.

Bet you can't top that!

I've seen this thread title for a couple days (without reading any of it) and was fascinated by how many replies it was receiving! Finally decided to take a peak... and now realize that Ranger DIDN'T mean, "It's a Small World Story" as in the ride at Disneyland! I was just going to say that I didn't have any special stories, but at 37, I still go on it every time we go to Disneyland!

Four years ago. We were tourists from a smallish town (pop. 13,000)in Nebraska. My husband, kids and I were standing on the Metro platform in D.C. (same day a certain senator did a peeping Tom down my shirt in the senate chambers RE: the Capitol Girly thread on this forum
All of a sudden a man walked by us and said, "Hey, tell ...... that I said hi." We raced after him and asked how he knew the name of our town's city administrator. Turns out my son was wearing a t-shirt with our town's name on it and our recently-arrived city official used to live in the D.C. area and knew this man.

I just remembered this one. About a month ago I was flying home from NYC on USAir. In the Charlotte airport, while connecting I ran into my MOTHER!! I had forgotten she spent the weekend in Atlantic City. We were on the same flight home.

We were in Epcot Center in 1988, I think outside of the China pavilion, when we ran into old friends with whom we had lost touch some 15 years earlier! And only knew them because their (now grown) daughter looked just like her mother did at her age!

This is kind of long, but I'll give it a go. A few years back, I went to a concert at a church in Bowie, MD with some friends. I had broken up with my boyfriend a few months back and he was there. While there I saw this guy who came with some other friends standing off by himself and thought he looks like he's having an awful time. Very next weekend, go to Philly with some other friends (who weren't at the concert) and one decides to call a friend she has going to school there to see if he wants to meet and hang out. He says okay and we walk over to meet him. My friend says she'd been hoping he'd meet a nice girl to date and she thinks that he finally found one. I'm over my last boyfriend and think I wish I could find a nice guy to date. We see the guy coming around the corner and...

Now from his point of view...

I'm going to art school in Philly and need to come home to get some paintings framed for a show. My girlfriend was going to go down with me to meet my parents, but on the way her car breaks down. So I wait a week and catch a ride from some friends who are in the band Good Charlotte. They said they were going to a show that night in Bowie, MD and could only take me as far as there, then I'd have to catch a ride from someone else. When we get there I see this girl and ask them who she is. They say that's so and so and she has a boyfriend. After getting paintings framed, I go back to Philly. I decide don't really have that much interest in pursuing relationship with girlfriend and break up with her. Next day, get a call right as I'm walking out of apartment to go to studio. It's friend from home saying she's in Philly, do you want to meet? I say okay and go to meet her. As I walk around the corner, the first person I see is the girl from the concert last weekend.

Back to my story...

Well this is a nice coincidence we think. We end up hanging out for the day, then I go home to MD. Don't think we'll ever see each other again, but he was nice. A few weeks later, I go to small group with friends and he is there. It turns out, he got mono and had to come home early from school. We started dating that very day and have now been married for a year.

While on active duty I was stationed in the Philippines for two years as a military cop. Got to know lots of "hostesses" in the local bars.

Flash forward six years, walking down Main Street USA in Disneyland and hear someone screaming my name. Yep...sweet young thing from the Sierra Club in Olongapo City. Had some 'splaining to do with my new bride, but it was kinda cool.
