We are back from Alaska!

I just returned from Alaska and thought I would share some suggestions since everyone was so helpful to me!
The worst part of the trip was the Airport Security. Its is sooooo long and ridiculous! We almost missed our flight from Anchorage!
Remember the days are VERY long in summer. There are no light clues, so you have no idea what the time is if you don't look at your watch. It was strange!
I was very happy to have rented a car, very helpful and convenient.
SEWARD I loved Exit Glacier. It was so nice to get to almost touch it! Don't get too close as some people did ( ignored the signs) and were almost buried. If you can't climb to the icefields, just climb up the mountain.
The Kenai Fjord 8.5 tour was a little long, but nice. We had a BEAUTIFUL day, saw wild life and the Hobart Glacier. The staff was very nice. If you can, book online and get a big discount! The lunch was very nice and plentiful. Fox Island was beautiful!
Go to the Sealife Center, they have some new animals that were abandoned. The gift shop is lovely and proceeds all go to a good cause.
If you can, go down to Miller's Landing just for the view! The Salmonbake Restaurant is good, cheaper than Rays and just as good!
ANCHORAGE Make sure you know where your hotel is The main streets near the Captain Cook,Hilton etc is filled with tons of giftshops. You can get great souveneirs and cheaper at the Walmart!
I will continue at a later time!
Please E-mail me with any questions! (South CentralAK only)

Where did you stay in Seward? Did you ever get a hold of the Sauerdough Lodging? Just curious because this hotel was very interesting.

Tell us more!!

Isn't all that sunlight invigorating? I had to make myself go to bed every night.

We had the same experience with the ONE line for security last year. They were adding onto the airport so I thought they might have that remedied by now.

Enjoying your report. Give us more. It brings back great memories!

In Seward, I contacted Alaskas Point of View (www.alaskasview.com)and told Debra what I was looking for. I thought I would be in a BandB, but she got me a 2 bedroom house! It was lovely, well, kept, comfortable, had all necessary implements to cook ( we rarely did) and a brand new washer and dryer. It was in a residential neighborhood right near the supermarket and big gas station.

Never did find the Sauerdough place. I liked being in our own place so we could have breakfast if and when we wanted. The B and Bs have breakfast at 7-8AM. My kids vetoed that.
Something kept very secret is the prison in Seward has a "gift" shop with stuff the inmates have made. Some really nice stuff.... carvings, jewelry, etc.
