SF's Beach Blanket Babylon

I know a lot of people have posted - should I see it, shouldn't I see it when I visit. I think it is something to see if you've got the time if you are expecting what you'll be getting - a cabaret type show.

Anyway, Prince Charles & Camilla are in town this week and tonight they went to see Beach Blanket so one of the local news stations has quite a long video clip of the show on their site.

Following this link should allow you to view the clip:
http://cbs5.com/video/[email protected]

I don't know how long they'll leave it up, but thought it would be useful for anyone who wants to get a taste without dishing out the cash first.

Today's San Francisco Chronicle had a great photo of the royals standing underneath the enormous "crown" holding San Francisco landmarks. I really want to see that show!

I thought one of the more interesting aspects was who was included in the special guests for the performance. The mayor's wife even showed up (I heard they were separated) and Danielle Steele, amoung other patrons of the arts. hehehe

I still say, for the money, I'd rather see Teatro Zinzanni, dinner included and a more unforgettable show. If you're lucky, you might catch Joan Baez performing.

I'm sure Teatro Zinnzani is fun, BUT it is not an only in SF experience--it also runs in Seattle--and it certainly is not a long standing SF experience.

This show is one of the things not to miss in SF. Great fun, regardless of being packed in like a sardine while you are watching it.

Bet the Prince & Cam were not squashed.

Let me put it this way: The Prince's mother and father ALSO attended Beach Blanket when they were in SF back in 1983 as the visiting Queen of England.

Now their son goes to it in 2005. These people can go anywhere they want to go and they select Beach Blanket. The show is unique and is fun to see. It changes topics all the time as the topics change.

If in SF.....try it out.
