SF restaurants for wife's birthday
For a three day trip to SF for my wife's birthday, we're thinking of these restaurants:
Quince
La Folie
Fleur de Lys
Any views on these? Any other recommendations?
I'm a vegetarian, so am happy Folie and Fleur have vegetarian tasting menus.
By the way, we're staying at the Huntington

For a fantastic (but not inexpensive) dinner with atmoshere, Farallon near Union Square. Looks like an "underwater" restaurant--jelly fish in the lights, etc, hard to describe, but quite the spot. Make reservations far in advance.
Have a very happy celebration!

Quince is in a rather pretty area near Pacific Heights, but don't know about a vegetarian menu. Fleur de Lys would be my choice from your list for your special occasion.
Since you are staying at the Huntington, check out Charles Nob Hill, in the same 'hood. Another elegant place for a memorable meal.

I think Fleur de Lys will be most in keeping with a bday dinner. While I really like La Folie, the dining room at is not as intimate as it might be. To narrow things down, I'd choose between La Folie and the Fleur. They will be pretty much equidistant from the Huntington by cab. La Folie is on outer Polk while Fleur de Lys is on the stretch between Union Square and Gough. I've been wanting to go the Gary Danko for awhile. I do not know if they have a vegetarian tasting menu. But it's worth a look see. You could also pull out the stops and venture up to the Napa Valley for lunch at the French Laundry..they do have a vegetarian option.
