SF- Golden Gate Park

We are staying close to the Ferry Market Building and wondered how difficult it would be to get to Golden Gate Park on an October Sunday? How would we do that?

It is very easy. Like Faina said, take the N train (underground) from the Embarcadero Station. You can get off at the corner of Irving Street and 9th Avenue (the train is no longer underground and is running along the street and walk one block north to the 9th Avenue entrance to the park. You can get off earlier (at Stanyan) if you want, but the Park entrance at 9th Avenue is nicer than the entrance at Stanyan and Haight.

If you get off at Ninth and Irving and enter the park at Ninth Avenue, you will be close to the Strybing Arboretum, the tea garden and the De Young. The N is probably quicker than the bus. Ninth and Irving also has a lot of good places to eat as well as places to just grab a quick bite.

On Irving st there is a grocery called Andronico's that has a terrific deli - I believe it is near 14th st. You could get some good stuff there for a picnic.
