Are we taking over the entire place?! I think I'll bring some name tags.

I made the reservation already, we should let them know the final head count two days ahead. They will push the small oblong tables together and put a round lazy susan over it. We can use their tea cups for wine (I was going to bring clear disposable cups).

Pre-ordered the salt/pepper pig knuckle. Poor translation, not pig's knuckle but bone-in thigh, which I believe is shank. Also pre-ordered the roasted carp, mind you this is a very bony fish, for those who are not used it, we can order another dish of filleted fish. For such a large crowd, we may order 2 each of the smaller plates.

14 so far including kids but not ghosts and spirits!

Shanghainese, thank you for taking care of almost everything!

Wouldn't it be funny if I'd forget the bottle opener I'll bring it to work in advance, and take with me to the restaurant, don't worry!

"We can use their teacups for wine..."

Teacups for wine?

TEACUPS for wine?

TEACUPS for WINE?!!!!!

I don't know about you, but I'm bringing my own Riedel glass!

Seriously, I do have some cheapo champagne glasses. Shall I bring those?

Shanghainese: we do need a final count, as I was thinking of bringing a guava cake for dessert - made by the best Japanese baker here in the South Bay, bar none. It has to be pre-ordered.

I have a question to ask you ladies. Are you getting ready for a wedding or for a GTG?

This is exceptional. I'm so excited! I'm telling all my friends at home that I'm going to meet a bunch of my "online axe murderer friends" in San Francisco.

Faina: I'm no wedding planner, can't handle more than being your social secretary!

ET: Just bring a glass for yourself! Very seriously, no glasses nor cake, the owners kindly offered tea cups for wine so they will "lose face" if glasses are brought in.

Also appreciate your generous thought about cake but won't you rather try their crepes filled with red bean paste, 8 precious rice pudding, sesame ball or sticky rice ball in rice wine?

My friend has her daughter and granddaughter visiting. She sent me an e-mail saying they will be in SF eating Ghirardelli ice-cream. As I'll be at work, they'll have a moment of silence for me.

Let's see who gets the last laugh and for whom the bell will toll, or the moment of silence will be, on 23d

Someone going to Ghirardelli for ICE CREAM at the Chocolate Factory without me!!!? BOO!!!!!

On long overseas business trips, my one point of sanity sometimes was dreaming about getting ice cream at the Chocolate Factory on return.

Faina - we'll make your friends green with envy on the 23rd!

Shanghainese: thanks for your many efforts! Muchly appreciated!

BUT:

No guava cake

No champagne glasses

I'm crushed.
