I have not stayed at either of these cabins, but be careful of cabins in Alaska. We went a couple of years ago, and were going to stay in cabins during our trip. The brochures would come, or we would see the cabins online and they would look so nice and charming. Some fellow Fodorites warned us that a lot of these cabins are nowhere near as nice as they look in the pictures. Because of this advice, we passed opting to stay in hotels instead. As we were traveling in Alaska, we would pass some of these cabins that we would have stayed in and over and over we kept remarking how we were so glad we hadn't stayed in them. A lot of them were pretty bad--nothing like the pictures.
In Seward, we stayed a a lovely off-property duplex owned and operated by the Harborview Inn. This duplex was beautifully furnished and had lovely views of the bay. I would stay there again. Enjoy your trip.

I stayed in one of the Box Canyon Cabins just this past summer, and all I can say is "wow"! These are gorgeous, roomy cabins set around a little pond in a somewhat secluded wooded setting. We had one of the 2 bedroom cabins, but all of the cabins looked to be of similar quality. They had a sign to 'take your shoes off' when coming into the cabin, and, yes, they were that nice, you wouldn't want to muss up the floor. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat (in fact, we tried to take my in-laws there later in the summer, but they were booked!)
They DO look like the pictures on the website (www.boxcanyoncabin.com). All the furnitures and fixtures in our cabin seemed very new, clean, and well-maintained. I HIGHLY recommend these cabins (at the risk of not being able to get a reservation there myself this summer!!!)

KMK: Thanks for the information about your stay, sounds great! We are also interested in the 2BR since we have 5 of us in our group. Did you find the cabin to be roomy enough? Do you remember which cabin you stayed in? The largest one is already booked (Moose Cabin); however, they have a 2BR available that has one queen in each BR and a twin rollaway.
Tcapp: Your comments are exactly what we are concerned about. However, my kids really want to stay in a log cabin. Alaska seems like the perfect place to not just stay in a standard hotel room. I think we will take the chance and hope for the best!!

It was either Wolf or Bear; maybe Bear? I thought it was really roomy. The two bedrooms are huge, each with a queen bed. The futon in the living room also seemed really big, since 4 of us (adults) sat on it to watch TV. Surprisingly, the bathroom was very nice & large (although only a shower, if I recall, there just seemed to be a whole lot of space...shower...sink....toilet...and lots of little soaps & fluffy towels), very roomy. The whole main living area was open - kitchen-dining-living & high ceilings, so plenty of room. I don't think you would be cramped, I really got a feeling of spaciousness in this place...I have been in 2br ski condos at major resorts that were a lot more cramped than this. This is a nice place, I would not hesistate to go here even with 5 adults in the 2br...and it sounds like you will have kids....you DO get the log cabin effect here, but it is REALLY upscale log cabin, so you don't have to suffer to make the kids happy!!!
